My friend Brian discovered via Twitter yesterday morning that The south part of the new Cherry Street alignment is now open. We were both pretty excited and made a plan to bike down after work.
I have always thought these bridges were beautiful from the moment I laid eyes on them, but seeing one up close was next level.
Additionally, the street design is great and gave us both a shot of hope and delight when so many things about this city and province seem shit. Waterfront Toronto isn’t perfect, but they sometimes seem that way when compared to either the Ford or John Tory governments. Waterfront Toronto has a vision, it’s a positive one and they act on it for the good of the city and waterfront and residents.
Some much needed joy.
