Sitting in a cafe in Montreal this morning. It’s at once refreshingly new and comfortable. I love this town and the space they keep for people here. I know it’s not perfect and there is lots broken here too, but it’s refreshing to see things work here in ways they don’t seem too in Toronto. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s our last morning here and I am not planning to work at all today so I’m managing to return to some pleasure reading to feed my soul. This passage Scott Cook quotes from Arundhati Roy clearly struck him and it strikes me too. It’s always good to find ways to keep feet on the pathways to a hopeful future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our strategy should be not only to confront empire, but to lay siege to it. To deprive it of oxygen. To shame it. To mock it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With our art, our music, our literature, our stubbornness, our joy, our brilliance, our sheer relentlessness – and our ability to tell our own stories. Stories that are different from the ones we’re being brainwashed to believe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The corporate revolution will collapse if we refuse to buy what they are selling – their ideas, their version of history, their wars, their weapons, their notion of inevitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember this: We be many and they be few. They need us more than we need them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
